Fellowship NEWS
Sunday 13 March 1977

FROM THE PASTOR'S STUDY ....
We have gathered together this Lord's Day to worship God.  We will do this by singing hymns, partaking of the Lord's Supper, making a monetary offering, listening to a sermon, reading scripture and praying.  But when it is all over ... will you have really worshipped God?

I commend to you these words from L.G. Crisp - "The word 'Worship' in its older form used to be written as 'Worth-ship' and it means giving someone his worth or due.  In worship, we seek to focus our minds on God and give ourselves to Him in self-surrender.
Thus, true worship should contain at least four elements -
1.  The realisation of the presence of God.
2.  The consciousness of our dependence upon God.
3.  The contemplation of the Christian way of life.
4.  The dedication or commitment of our lives to that way of life.

"When Jesus stated, 'God is Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth', He was not speaking abstractly.
We may easily discern if our worship is of any value, if our lives are being cleansed, purified and modified, as a result of the hours we spend at worship.

Have YOU worshipped recently?

A WARM WELCOME
to all visitors with us this week.  We hope that you will be uplifted by the worship service this morning, be inspired by the teaching from God's Word, and feel the presence of God in the gathering together of His people.

DISTRICT FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY
- A number of people from our congregation travelled to Richmond to be a part of the gathering together of hundreds of Christians from the Nelson District Churches of Christ.  For all who attended, there was a great feeling of the bond of love among Believers, as well as a challenge brought forth in both sermons for all of us to begin to effectively minister the Good News of the coming of Jesus Christ to provide forgiveness of sin to all of those around us.  Are you willing to take up the challenge?

EASTER CAMP, CHRISTCHURCH
- An Easter Camp is to be held at Hibburt Park in Christchurch this Easter, April 7 - 11.  It is for youth, 14 years and over.  Come and share the long weekend with other young people and discover what Christian living is about.  There will be studies, elective workshops, recreation and beach activities, Easter sunrise service, and a great time of Christian fellowship.  The cost is only $6 but you will need to provide your own transportation to Christchurch.

OR, if Christchurch is too far .... read on ....

A SAFARI FOR TEENAGERS

Included in the programme ... storming the heights, shooting, manhunt, fishing competition, spies and smugglers, archery, funspirations, and riots....  Four days of fun and activity .... April 7 - 11.  The cost is $8.  For registration, contact Steve Moore.

WELCOMED INTO FELLOWSHIP

Life Response
What will it take for you to change your mind-set about your position in the world so that by next Sunday you can say,
"We are responding to Jesus' statement about being people of significance, the important individuals in the world.  Now that we know what our position is, tell us more of what Jesus said?"

Personal Project
