LETTERS TO THE 20TH CENTURY CHURCH
(From "When All Else Fails" by Bob Smith)

To the Elders of the Church at Bible City

Why do you pride yourself on "holding to the line" on a few negative issues instead of living out the great Positive Values of life in me?  I am God's great "Yes" and "That's True".  I am the Great Liberator, not Prohibitor.

And do you not bear my name, as Christ's men and women?  Why, then do you attach yourselves to mere men and systems?  Did Calvin die for you, or Luther rise again for you?  Is YOUR theology higher than MY word?  Did I ever ask you to fight and squabble among yourselves over my word?  Instead, I commanded you to love one another, despite differences of understanding and opinion.

Oh, I know, your intentions are good, but in the meantime I'd like to have the free use of my Body.  Won't you let me?  Please stop saying, "But we've always done it that way!"  Are your traditions more important than letting me be Lord?  I may have a better way.  Did you ever think to ask me?

JESUS CHRIST
The Faithful Witness

RADIO RHEMA
Aims and Policy:
- To share the vision of Christian Radio in New Zealand.

- Not a Church on the air, but stations, broadcasting good, purposeful, family entertainment, built on sound Christian principles.

- Our desire is to promote a God-conscious and people-caring society, in contrast to the commercial media's effect of promoting a "thing-conscious" society.

- We will provide an alternative "Good News" sound to balance the emphasis on sensationalism in so much of the media.

How You Can Help:
- As we must produce evidence before a Communications Commission, we need the documentary support of both Church and the general public.

- Signatures from every man, woman and young person will demonstrate the wide-spread public desire to have Radio Rhema on the air.

- The best evidence to support our case is probably a large financial membership.  This will prove to the Commission that we have the financial ability to establish and operate these stations, and show that a large number of people from many Churches are prepared to support such stations voluntarily.  Subscribe now - Annual membership is $5.00.

LET US COME ALIVE AND DO SOMETHING !  LET US STAND AND BE COUNTED !
Everyone who signs a form is identifying himself with the need and desire for the precious Word of God to have its rightful place in our community.

You will find a petition form in the front porch - or contact Dennis Shuker.

AMONG OUR PEOPLE . . . .
TONIGHT we will be having a very special Coffee Service.
The music will be provided by the Tasman Musical Team and our guest speaker will be Bryan Kirby.  This is an opportunity for you to bring your friends to a service where they can hear the Gospel and experience genuine Christian fellowship.
(Ladies, a plate please.)

NEXT SUNDAY
is a pulpit exchange Sunday among our Churches of the Nelson District.  The preacher here at Motueka for Sunday morning will be Bryan Kirby.  Steve will be preaching at Richmond and Tony will be at Annesbrook.

TEACHERS' INSTITUTE -
The second session of our Teachers' Institute takes place at 6p.m. tonight in the Manse.  This is open to anyone with an interest in "teaching".

THE LADIES' STUDY GROUP
has now changed its meeting day to Wednesday each week, and the group is increasing in size.  Arrangements have been made for a creche to take care of the children.  All ladies are invited to come and share in study and fellowship.

ON THE SICK LIST
Nita Jackett is now home again,
Mrs. Fenemor Snr. is also back in Motueka,
Mr. Galbraith is still in hospital,
Mrs. Griffith is in the Geriatric.
Our prayers for recovery are with all our unwell members.

MR. FRED REES
has submitted his resignation as Minister of the Rutherford Street Church, because of poor health.  Your prayer support is requested for the Rees Family as they have to adjust to the change.  Also please remember the congregation as consideration is given to future ministry.
