FELLOWSHIP NEWS
MOTUEKA CHURCH OF CHRIST
374 High Street

Senior Pastor: Tony Barnett - 528 9795
Associate Pastor: Brent Allred - 528 7411

From the PASTOR --
When it comes to praying there are many observations made by people.  Some say they don't know how to pray, others can't be bothered praying.  Still others don't know when to stop praying when they are asked to say a short prayer!  There are books written, seminars offered, all with the goal of helping us to talk with our Father.  I have been helped greatly by some of these books and yet, at the same time, find it strange that we need these 'aids' to help us do something that we should develop in as we grow.

How many of us, for example, as we grew and reached the age of four or five, had to attend the latest seminar on "How to Talk to Your Mum and Dad" or "How to Ask Effectively and Get All You Desire From Your Parents"?  Most of us learnt from being with them, listening to their language, imitating and also being taught by them.  It is a known fact that children isolated from touch and love are greatly disadvantaged in language and functioning.  We can learn from that.

Jesus' words on prayer are powerful and instructive.  To communicate effectively with the Father we must know Him, be in His presence a lot, learn from Him, learn His language, then talk it and it will be effective.

Blessings on your week,
Tony.

A special welcome today to the team from Tasman Bay Christian School, who will be sharing in our service this morning.

COMING EVENTS!
MARCH FOR JESUS - Saturday, 25 June.
The Motueka march will assemble at Parklands School at 10:30am, to commence marching at 11am.  This will be followed by a prayer assembly at Parklands School immediately after the march (approx. 11:45am).  At 7pm that evening there will be a celebration at the Memorial Hall featuring singing and drama.  An offering will be taken to cover costs; all profits will go towards Religious Education in Motueka.

A SPECIAL WEEKEND - 8-10 July.
We told you a couple of weeks back to keep this weekend free.  Here's why.  Wilbur Wright, who for many years was involved with Youth for Christ in NZ, will be spending this weekend with us, encouraging, inspiring and challenging us in our ministry here.  On the Saturday evening we are planning a sit down meal, to which everyone is invited and encouraged to bring their friends.  Wilbur will be sharing his testimony at this programme.  Then on Sunday he will be sharing in both our services.  This is sure to be a highlight for our church this year.
Plan now to come.
